Surgical mesh has been used for years to help support the structure of soft tissues in various areas of the body. SepraMesh IP Composite Hernia Mesh is a lightweight mesh with an absorbable hydrogel safety coating. The mesh is placed over a weakened area of tissue and sutured in place. After approximately 30 days, the hydrogel coating is absorbed by the body, allowing the mesh to remain where it is needed and provide support to the soft tissues.

Uses for SepraMesh IP Composite Hernia Mesh

SepraMesh hernia mesh is used in many different areas of the body, including the inner and outer groin area, along the abdominal wall, along the stomach and diaphragm, and in the umbilical region or near the belly button. These are common areas where hernias are known to form, either after surgical procedures or due to an injury where the soft tissues begin to weaken or separate.

The flexibility of the composite mesh allows it to move along with the tissues it is applied to without causing the tissue to tear or pull. One of the selling points of the mesh was that the dissolvable coating allowed the mesh to attach to the tissue without slipping or shifting from its original position.
